Benzodiazepine Use and Deposition of Beta-Amyloid in Brain

Some patients who were prescribed to taken Benzodiazepine wondered that at long reception of medication it increases deposition of beta-amyloid in large hemispheres of the brain. That leads cognitive decline, dementia, Alzheimer disease.

Last studding of this issue by Ariel Graff-Guerrero, MD, PhD, from the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, University of Toronto, in Canada demonstrated that there is no link between long-term medication use (for 6 months in experiment) and increased deposition of beta-amyloid. Research was conducted in group of adults aged 55 to 90 years who did not have dementia.
